Wanted to share some pictures of Chiquita who passed away last week due to a brain tumor. She was a cute little dog who thought she wasn't - slept with her head on a pillow most evenings, would scootch around to get blankets up to her neck and spent ten minutes every night at bedtime washing her feet. She never went to bed until I did and if I was at a music gig, or at rehearsal, she would be by the door when I got home. Fetch was her thing..... along with Isaiah, our now 4 year old grandson - she thought he was just the coolest! Chico, her brother, seems a bit lost...
She was a great little friend, part of our family, and is really missed around here. I found this poem the day she passed at

For those who have lost a pet...
I stood by your bed last night... I came to have a peep.
I could see that you'd been crying, and you found it hard to sleep
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me. I haven't left you. I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."
I was close to you at breakfast... I watched you pour your tea.
You were thinking of the many times your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at my grave today... you tend to it with such care.
I want to reassure you that I'm not lying there.
I walked you towards the house as you fumbled for the key.
I gently put my paw on you... I smiled and said, "its me."
You looked so very tired as you sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know that I was sitting there.
It's wonderful for me to be so near you everyday,
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."
You sat there very quietly, then smiled... I think you knew
That in the stillness of the evening I was very close to you.
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to meet you and we'll stand there side by side.
I have so many things to show you! There's so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out, then come home to be with me.
