Lake Powell Cattle
We live in the West - not unusual to drive from Page, AZ to Big Water, UT and see cattle. There are several places along Highway 89 where they can cross proving, cowboys, real live ones, still live here.

We've sure had above average snow here in the high, wind-blown deserts. These were taken from my yard looking back at the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument.
Pulling out of Lake Powell Mart at Greenehaven today....
Lake Powell, Wahweap Marina, Stateline Marina and general solitude on the nice winter day.
Tiny, yes, that is his name, weighs in at @ 18 lbs and is 14 years old. Tiny is a Maine Coon cat and has been ruling this part of the neighborhood for many years. Desert cats are a tough, rare breed and it is unusual to find one this old. Behind our home there are millions of square acres of wilderness and wild animals abound. Many a coyote has wandered through my yard only to find Tiny. Tiny once took on a loose pit bull who was on my front porch, caused the dog to bleed before escaping to the roof! Tiny's mom, Mama Cat, lived a good long life, and so did his brother, but Tiny ~ he's still kickin it!
I am usually a night person, but a cold has taken up residence in my throat and has me up at all hours. This morning, while bemoaning the stabbing sensation in my throat, there was a reddish light coming in my window. It did not take but a second to pry my eye open, insert toothpicks to keep them that way, and run out on the porch and snap a few sunrise photos!
Throughout the fall and winter I've been tracking a black and white woodpecker who has been living on my property. At first I thought he was a baby that had matured pretty quickly, but yesterday, I also saw the younger one.
A couple of nights ago from my yard
This little guy has been around for a couple of months. I thought he might disappear for the winter, but he didn't.
These photos were taken right after a pretty big snow storm in the Lake Powell area.
Snow?? We don't see it very often in the Lake Powell area. I woke up to the sounds of neighborhood children on the street in front of my house, making a very large snowball ( I think they were going to make a snowman but got distracted) which they abandoned at the foot of my driveway ~ see photographic evidence. I went out a few times today and took photos, including one of my daughter taking pictures. The Panorama was fun and shot from my driveway. Enjoy!
